I found their Translator program to be very useful so i ordered the full version of it. Unfortunately, it does not YET support the S750/770 series completely (i.e you can not yet convert TO the 7X0 format from other formats), but that will change as i understand it. Converting from Akai to anything else is no problem at all using the Trnanslator tough. regards Daniel Linux is like a WigWam, no Windows, no Gates, Apache inside. >From: "Steve Schow" >Reply-To: >To: "'Harold Everton, Jr.'" , > >Subject: RE: sgroup Is there anyway to convert .Wav files? >Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:58:40 -0500 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from [209.167.141.2] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id >MHotMailBDA59296001140042A0DD1A78D02C9F90; Sun, 28 Oct 2001 09:59:55 -0800 >Received: by hugin.uunet.ca id <193718-18184>; Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:59:07 >-0500 >Received: by hugin.uunet.ca (bulk_mailer v1.9); Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:58:59 >-0500 >Received: by hugin.uunet.ca id <193715-18184>; Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:58:50 >-0500 >Received: from nova.unix.portal.com ([156.151.32.103]) by hugin.uunet.ca >with ESMTP id <193713-18184>; Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:58:44 -0500 >Received: from imp.portal.com (imp.portal.com [156.151.32.82])by >nova.unix.portal.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id JAA09686;Sun, 28 Oct 2001 >09:58:32 -0800 (PST) >Received: from sjs600e1 (sjs600e1.portal.com [10.200.0.88] (may be >forged))by imp.portal.com (8.8.8+Sun/8.8.8) with SMTP id JAA15446;Sun, 28 >Oct 2001 09:58:32 -0800 (PST) From sgroup-owner@lists.uunet.ca Sun, 28 Oct 2001 10:00:42 -0800 >Message-ID: >X-Priority: 3 (Normal) >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook CWS, Build 9.0.2416 (9.0.2911.0) >Importance: Normal >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2600.0000 >In-Reply-To: >Sender: owner-sgroup@lists.uunet.ca >Precedence: bulk > >I can't remember for sure, but I think this may be something that >Chickensys >Translator does. I don't think ChickenSys supports converting wav to Roland format yet, although they do support converting Roland to other formats. I've heard ChickenSys says wav to Roland conversion is coming but they've been saying that for a while. I just got their latest Translator email and it doesn't say anything about wav to Roland. You can use Translator to create what they call a "Virtual Drive" in a certain format (Roland, Akai, Emu, etc). So what you really do is to create an image file representation of a Akai-formatted harddrive or CD-rom (for example). In this virtual image you have the instrument structure of the target sampler. So when you drag-n-drop your wav-files onto the image, it will convert them on the fly to the target format and put the samples in the right position in the target image file (which is a RAW image btw). When you are done, just fire up your cd-burning software (that supports burning the raw format which most does) and burn the image file. When your done, just pop it into your sampler cd and enjoy it. It costs a few bucks agreed, but it is very flexible and supports a lot of different samplers and formats. I waiting right now for them to complete the 750/770 support so that i can convert my stack of old Akai CD that i have.
