I know some of you may have some Akai samplers, Gigasamplers or other samplers in addition to your Roland Sxxx. I also know that many of you have to have some drum sample CDs and Guitar sample CDs. My question is, which are the best Drum and Guitar sample CDs. I'm NOT talking about Audio CDs, and I'm NOT talking about LOOP CDs. I mean a good acoustic drum sample CD tat could fool listeners into believing that I'm playing a real drum set. The Roland LDP01 Drums & Cymbals sample CD is okay at best. The INTERACTIVE DRUM KITS sample CD from Sonic Reality/Ilio is very good, but not yet available in Roland format. I contacted Ilio and they told me that a Roland formatted CD will be available shortly. This CD is $199. Since the Roland can read both Roland and Akai CDs, I was wondering if there was anyone who could recommend a VERY GOOD drum sample CD for the Akai or Roland that I could use in my studio. Same thing with Guitars. I'm looking for a sample CD that has a great selection of acoustic and electronic guitars. No stupid FX based or Atmospheric guitars please. The Roland LCDP02 sucked. Please help. Chris

I was doing some net surfing and came across some sites (a couple of months ago) that talked about two things. The first, an internal expansion that would allow your S760 to hold up to either 64MB or 128MB of RAM made by a German company. I remember reading how two users posted reviews about this. Also, that since they had 64 and 128MB, they were able to load in Akai CD-ROMs that had over 32MB in data.

The second was Roland having an eight out expansion box for the S760.

Are these rumors true?

Thanks,
Harold

~ the biggest problem i can see now is = converting files.=20 from what i've heard [and read in the archives] people use a couple = of file=20 converters to make their pcs understand roland libraries. i've = always worked=20 with samplitude carrying out really loads of editing, then = converting wavs=20 to my akai with some simple software. it seems to me that it won't = be that=20 easy with the s750. the idea of using two or three programs to = manage that=20 [what a waste of time!] drives me up the bloody wall. isn't there = any soft=20 that could help me do it in a quick and easy = fashion?

Now how do I load and setup these files including midi channel settings so when I reload them they will always be there for sequencing on a per song basis? In other words, say I want to create a track or song and save the song file in my computer which was using the s760 sounds I loaded from the hard drive. How do I save these s70 sounds to later load them back into the sampler for playing later and keep the settings I made? And how do I permanently set which midi channels I want to use? Is there a global settings for this so the sounds in the s760 won't interfere with for instance the sounds playing on other midi channels on my X5DR, MPC2000 etc...? I am only using 16 midi channels.
