Nope. S50, S330, and S550 all use the same format. They can swap floppies with each other, no conversion required. But if you want to use their floppies with S770, for example, then you must use the convert load function to import the samples/patches. Now I feel like I'm behind again...but in this case, I don't care. I love the S760. The only real problem I had was not being able to change the colors on the display and the 24 voice limit...no biggies. Oh well, the vocoder was discontinued once way back too. The S760 despite it's minor drawbacks continues to be my favorite sampler workhorse. The best thing about it is the sound library which is the best to my ears IMHO. I hope Roland keeps up with the monitor and mouse interface that I have grown to love, however rumor has it that a touch screen is in the worksm and a hybrid of the next generation JV series technology with S760 fundtionality. We'll see though, knowing Roland, they'll be pushing the limits, again! Sean At 11:15 PM 5/25/99 -0400, you wrote: >Hmmm...news to me too! I mean all of the *.out files tht are in sgroup. I had seen a site somewhere on the net that was selling this CD. It had all of the S-50, S-330, S-550, S-760, S-770, and W-30 files on it. I had E-Mailed the guy on the site and he told me that he got the *.out files direct from Roland; and they all work (no corrupt files. I would really like to find out if this is true. Also if someone has a burned copy of the *.out files for these machines, it would really be a blessing. >From: Sean Charles >To: "sgroup@lists.uunet.ca" >Subject: Re: sgroup No more 760? >Date: Wed, 26 May 1999 00:21:30 -0400 > >My sentiments exactly...with cats like Hans Zimmer and Steve Porcaro owning >24 or more of them, it's a true testament to the product.
