Select 'Copy' from the Command Menu. If you have a monitor and a mouse the Command Menu is under COM in the upper-right corner. 2. Change target [TG] to Sample. 3. Select the sample you are going to copy. 4. Press (or click on 'Copy' if you have a monitor) to copy the sample. The new sample has the same name as the original except it has the letters AA added to the end of the name (AB for the second copy, AC for the third, etc.). 5. Edit the copied sample until you are happy. 6. To use the same partial settings for the edited sample, select 'Copy' from the Command Menu, change the target to 'Partial PGM' and copy the original partial program the same way as you did with the sample. 7. Change to Partial Mode, select SMT from the Partial Menu and change the active partial program to the copied partial program(with AA, AB or whatever in the end of the name). 8. Change the sample number(or numbers if you are using a stereo sample) in the SMT list from the old one to the edited one. 9. Change to Patch Mode and select Split from the Patch Menu. 10. Select the patch program where the original sample is, or if you are going to use seperate MIDI channels for each sound, select an empty patch program and name it. 11. Change the partial program number to the one you just created before. 12. Set the keyboard range(Lower and Upper) so it does not overlap the key range of the original partial program. Make shure that the partial programs are of 'poly' type if you are going to play both sounds simultaneously. 13. Press (or click on 'Set' if you have a monitor). 14. Change to Performance Mode, select the patch programs you are going to use and assign them to MIDI channels. 15. Continue to work on the masterpiece. I hope this helps, but I'm shure you knew this all anyway... :-) Finnur - Sent by the sgroup mailing list on lists.uunet.ca For subscription information, send mail to majordomo@lists.uunet.ca From owner-sgroup Fri Oct 9 00:07:12 1998 Received: by hugin.uunet.ca id <193672-28651>; Fri, 9 Oct 1998 00:02:04 -0400 Received: from mail2.uunet.ca ([142.77.1.15]) by hugin.uunet.ca with ESMTP id <193671-28651>; Fri, 9 Oct 1998 00:01:57 -0400 Received: from pollux.uunet.ca ([209.47.143.131]) by mail2.uunet.ca with ESMTP id <124483-14630>; Fri, 9 Oct 1998 00:01:46 -0400 Received: (from jsellens@localhost) by pollux.uunet.ca (8.8.7/8.8.7) id AAA11970 for sgroup@lists.uunet.ca; Fri, 9 Oct 1998 00:01:43 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from jsellens) Received: from hotmail.com (f286.hotmail.com [207.82.251.177]) by hugin.uunet.ca with SMTP id <193671-16832>; Thu, 8 Oct 1998 21:44:45 -0400 Received: (qmail 15742 invoked by uid 0); 9 Oct 1998 01:44:42 -0000 Message-ID: <19981009014442.15741.qmail@hotmail.com> Received: from 203.26.233.49 by www.hotmail.com with HTTP; Thu, 08 Oct 1998 18:44:41 PDT X-Originating-IP: [203.26.233.49] From: "Casey jones" To: sgroup@lists.uunet.ca Subject: sgroup Help!! who uses Ver 1.6 Recycle with S760? I normally boot v2.24 OS off floppy which is always inside the the S760. When booting up the other, the S760 + CRT displayed something like: "Not a S760 System Disk" I was able to boot off a Zip drive which contains v2.23 OK (alleviating any fears that SCSI might have been in dead). With v2.23 I was able to do the following: 1. format a new floppy disk (Disk -> Utility) 2. load sounds from the Zip drive, then save them to the floppy 3. read sounds from the floppy and play them OK in the Perf. window When I tried, however, to Save System to a re-formatted floppy, the system displayed the error: !!2HD FD, Please ! I checked the floppy - which is a says 2HD on it. So - I'm confused: Q: what kind of problem(s) with the S760 / floppy drive could result in being able to format a floppy OK, write and read sounds OK to/from a floppy - but not being able to Save System to the floppy? (ie. maybe floppy isn't recognizing the HD tab on the floppy - allowing it to write/read to what it thinks is a single dens. floppy, but not write System?)
