My understanding was that we were going to put the sample library onto Taipan, or at least part of it. Now that I have a utility that (supposedly) will read SamDisk files onto the Mac, I'm prepared to put samples onto Taipan if that's of any use to anyone. I would also, of course, like to get them off. Is this what we were talking about? Let me apologise now, because I was, as usual, only half listening to the conversation we were having earlier when Taipan was being set up, and have deleted those messages off of my disk space. I'd appreciate it if someone would straighten me out on this, because I don't see any (I think there's one), samples on Taipan.uwaterloo.ca. I'd be glad to trade some of my 50 or so disks for it. I will also begin (in the near future), loding some of my samples on Taipan. I've learned about sites on the iInternet that people can telnet to to use it like a BBS. I thought it might be a good idea to do this if possible with the FTP sites that have samples for the sgroupers. The reason I thought about this is that some can telnet but do not have access to FTP. If it were a BBS-style site then zmodem/xmodem could be installed to and transfered directly. Are there many people out there that can telnet but don't have FTP access? Perhaps it wouldn't even need to be a BBS-style set-up, put just a sort of RSH that only lets you do 'ls' and 'sz' & 'rz' (zmodem commands.) The new store, which is still getting set up but IS open for business, is going to be called "Music Services", with Sound Deals as a subsidiary. The address is: 201 Park Ridge Circle Birmingham, AL 35216 The telephone number is 205-979-1811, and Jamie's Email address is 72130.1746@compuserve.com He says he's getting the phone company to set up an 800 number, but it may take a few weeks before it's up and going (and some time after that to get advertised in KEYBOARD). When I spoke to him, he was down with the flu but still manning the phones; he says he prefers to get calls between 1000 and 1900 EST, but will answer emergency requests any time day or night. As I said before, I am not associated with Jamie in any way other than as a VERY satisfied customer. I got my Mackie and my Microwave from these guys for the best prices I'd seen, and everything was delivered promptly, in good shape, and with little smiley-faces drawn on the receipts. |-> One favor he's asked, though: if you DO call him, mention that you heard it here first-- he wants to gauge the size of the Net-crowd interested in his store.
