Roth) I have RSB-5505, Disk #9 Full String Section Pan 8outputs For Stereo Does anyone know of any other full sounding string section samples that sound more full? I noticed that the viola and 2nd violin sound the same and at this early morning I think they are the same set-up in the Roland. I guess what I am looking for is something like 12-4-4-2, the sample sound of 12 violins, 4 violas, 4 cellos and 2 basses. Anyone have suggestions? I have to admit I have not done a lot of sound design and set-up on the Roland S-330. I understand I might have to go to tape to layer in order to get the full sound but I was wondering if detuning (i.e. fine tune) 12 violins tones to sound at once would sound like 12 violins or just a badly out of tune violin section string section. Just to keep the example simple in this case assume that 1st & 2nd violins are playing the same part. Thanks in advance! Date: 17 Jun 91 01:31:12 EDT (Mon) >From: david!david@cis.ohio-state.edu (David A. Roth) (Yet another request from the Roland sampler clan.) Has anyone taken the listing of all the samples and cataloged them as a Hypercard program? I know that not all of the samples i.e. "steamer" would be found in a search for calliope but it could happen! I'm figuring that if there was something like a Hypercard program that listed all the Roland disks along with what is on each disk with some notes and other keywords that could be added to each sample and that disk or collection of disks. I know that Hypercard is really for MAC users but I figure if the data was made available to the rest of the sgroup that it would be used to create other shell, awk, c programs and with a common ASCII data format it could be exchanged. It would be nice to have others experience with samples and comments documented. What do you say kids? All we need is a barn and we can put on a show! David PS: I'm going to post this request to the net and the MMML to see if anyone else has come up with something like this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ _TT /| |~ >====ttt===< | O| |~ {_|||_} \| O| david!david@CIS.OHIO-STATE.EDU uunet!abvax!osu-cis!david!david From CompuServ: send >internet:david@david.uucp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Date: Mon, 17 Jun 91 10:54:01 -0400 (EDT) >From: Neil Anthony Herzinger To: Sgroup Subject: Re: HYPERCARD listing of the Roland library? I myself am a mac user, so I'm also biased towards it :-) I'd be willing to work on it, and at least set it up for the S-50 disks. If someone else wanted to add the S-550 disks to the existing stack, that would complete it. Maybe we can take a poll to see what 'fields' would be included in order to facilitate searches. neil -- >From: att!Max.UREGINA.CA!UREGINA1.BITNET!KEELERJA@mtdca.att.com Date: Tue, 18 Jun 91 23:26:06 CST Subject: Re: HYPERCARD listing of the Roland library? This sounds like a good idea, although I think it would be a fairly time consuming project. ...Jason -- Date: Wed, 19 Jun 91 10:08:24 -0400 (EDT) >From: Neil Anthony Herzinger To: Sgroup Subject: Re: HYPERCARD listing of the Roland library? Well, I wouldn't be able to do it this way (lack of knowledge) so if someone else was up for it... I still wouldn't mind doing it the manual way though, as it would be quite useful to myself. >Don't forget that IBM users who use TOOLBOOK would also be able to use >the Hypercard stack. That makes it even more worthwhile in my opinion. neil
