X-Charset: ASCII X-Char-Esc: 29 Status: R Hello everybody! A week ago I got tired searching manually through all my disketts whenever I needed a specific patch. So, I sat down a couple of hours and made myself a diskett librarian. And beeing such a nice guy, I thought that maybe someone out there wanted one as well. Features are: - automatical loading of data from S-550/S-330 disketts. Loads patchname, tonenames, and disklabel. No entering of data required. - database includes ability to save patch type and patch rating for each patch as well (of course, manually entering of these data are required...) - searching includes: find tonename/patchname including "searchstring" list patches of a selected patch type browse through diskettes - as a special, extrabonus: The database can update the lable, tone names and patchnames of a sound data disk (all other data are maintained...) This means that you don't have to sit fiddling with the INC/DEC-keys on the sampler anymore, just write what you wnt into the database, and the database saves what you've entered to disk. - ID-numbers can be written onto diskett, so that when you load/boot from the diskett, ID-number are shown (not in the label-field...) Requirements are: - IBM compatible PC/AT - 286, 386, 486, pentium +++ - Microsoft Windows 3.1 ++ (behaviour unpredicted under 3.0...) - some RAM (not much..) - 50 k disk space + database disk space (approx. 80k for 55 diskettes) - 3.5" diskett drive - S-550/S-330 datadisks The program has been designed to be as careful as possible regarding disk and diskett reading/writing. I have done extensive testing during the weekend, and all problems experienced are corrected. So, if somebody wants the program, please let me know... Greetings from Norway, Jon Jenssen, jonjen@lise.unit.no (I could upload it to lotus, but I think I don't have the access required...) (All commands are of course in norwegian. ;-) (Just a little joke there...) Date: Tue, 29 Mar 1994 01:19:39 -0500 From: jonjen@lise.unit.no X-Mts: smtp X-Charset: ASCII X-Char-Esc: 29 Status: R Hello everybody, I have just uploaded the librarian to the incoming directory on lotus. Hopefully, it will soon be available for downloading. Or to quote jmsellens: >Sounds great - I just enabled writing on lotus.uwaterloo.ca >pub/sgroup/incoming, so if you would like to ftp it over, I'll put >it in the utilities directory. I have tested the program extesively, and all bugs experienced are corrected. If you experience any trouble, please let me know. I have myself registered all my sampler disks, and the database seems to work fine. Though, you never fully know the mysterious ways Windows move in, so some bugs might still be there... Included with the program are a documentation file in Microsoft Windows Write format. I had no time to make a helpfile. Hopefully the next version of the program will include a help system. I have also tested the database under OS/2 2.1. Not beeing fully compatible with Windows, OS/2 minimized the font in the label-windows to a too-small-to-read font. Everything else seemed to work OK. If someone really wants me to make a S-50 or W-30 version, please send me a W-30/S-50 disk with all tones and patches name filled out as well as a full description of what the diskett contains. Also the disk label should be filled out. I have no W-30, so I cannot do this myself. Also, having a S-50 disk with the latest OS would be nice, me just having the non-S-50 OS-disks from my S-550. OK. That should be something to play with... I better get home and have some sleep. It has been a long night. Please forgive all my spelling errors. The documentation was written very quickly... Have fun! Greetings from Norway, Jon Jenssen, jonjen@lise.unit.no
