I have never synced anything using MTC - I used to use SYMPTE back in the old days but that was a completely separate system from MIDI. So I can't help you with all your needs but what I would recommend is try to get just two of your devices syncing with each other first. Connect only the drum machine and one unit you're trying to sync directly with a MIDI cable or two, setup the first unit to send (master) and the second to receive (slave) and see if this will work. It's EXTEMELY helpful if you have any lights on your units which tell you one unit is sending MIDI and the other is receiving it. If the units themselves do not, the maybe a MIDI patchbay or pass-thru box that has these same lights? I don't know if you're trying to sync everything together with MTC, but some of the units you mention are pretty old, aren't they? - are you sure they're all MTC-compatible? Help! Hi Jesse, Are you referring to the multipin RGB connector? As far as I know, you get RGB output and this requires a compatible monitor. There's a much easier way. Just get coaxial cable with RCA plugs on either end (at worst, use normal cable). On the S550, plug into the Monitor Out (next to the RGB plug) On the S760, use the Video Out plug. Plug either cable into a composite video input on a normal television monitor (or TV set). You'll get colour from the S760 but only black and white from the S550. You can buy a cheap video switcher to toggle between the two (or a 3-way switch if you have other TV inputs) I'm assuming you have a TV monitor in your studio....... This has been by far the best solution for me. Hope this helps Colin - Sent by the sgroup mailing list on sgroup.ca For subscription information, send mail to majordomo@sgroup.ca and see http://www.generalconcepts.com/sgroup/ for more information. Black and white on the S-550 is fine - I only use it to play samples these days so between the Load and the Play modes that'll be no problem. Now I have to look for a small (the smaller the better) cheap used TV monitor. A normal mouse could destroy the sampler mouse port as they are wired = completely different. 2. You could use any MSX mouse as the Roland MU-1 mouse is an MSX mouse. 3. No, I don't built mouse converters for other people at the moment as = I=20 have no time for it - sorry. 4. My serial mouse to Roland mouse converter is still in the building = phase. The hardware is OK but the software is not tested... 5. On a japanese site there is a PS2 mouse to msx mouse converter. I wanted to build a prototype of this one but this found no time. I think that this would be the best method to get a Roland mouse as = the PS2 mouse is the cheapest standard mouse interface at the moment. 6. There is also a Bus mouse to town mouse (said to be compatible with = msx mouse) converter on the web - have not tried that... works with PIC16f84-10 7. So the best way in getting a Roland MU-1 compatible mouse is: Look at Ebay! There are Roland and msx mice from time to time. For example this auction (not mine!!): =20 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3D3703657475&category=3D= 38071 And while searching for it I found the graphic tablet that can be used = with the Roland samplers (German auction): http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3D2786342008&category=3D= 8097 Ciao Peter \|/ (o o) --oOOO--(_)--OOOo------------------------------------------------------ Ing. Sounds for me like the mouse doesn't make a clean reset and so the msx data port outputs a constant signal that means to move the mouse to the upper left corner. I had similar effects while writing my software until my code worked... When you unplug the mouse and reconnect again then you get a nice reset=20 and the mouse is working fine. If you want I can send you the mouse schematics of a similar (if not the = same)=20 mouse electronics. Maybe just the capacitor on the reset pin in your = mouse is defect... It's been some years ago that I encountered this problem but here it goes: The problem seemed to be that the RESET puls in the mouse is too short. It should RESET itself after the mouse input of the sampler has been reset. Mij solution was the following: Open the mouse and find the R-C combination which makes the RESET puls. Take the electrolithic capacitor out and replace it by one with a higher capacity. Some experimenting must be done. You'll probably need an electronic's engineer to help you.... good luck with it ,I know how annoying it is to pull the mouse everytime. Not to mention the shortened life of the plugsolderings in your sampler.. Saw your work online, and thought you may know if there is a utility to actually recognise S50 diskettes on a PC disk drive, and therefore be copied to a Windows or Mac hard drive. I no longer have access to an S50, but would like to still use the samples, possibly as .wav files for a computer sampler... So far, SMFW30, FloppyImage, and Sdisk are unable to even see the diskette in the drive. Sorry for my ignorance, but can't seem to find this info online... perhaps the disk drives in the sampler are completely different than those in the S-50? any ideas? Thanx in advance!
