No matter how big it really is and, no, you can't use partitions. But thanks to SCSI you can attach up to 7 devices, so I would recommend to go for some old 1GB HDs like the Seagate ST-51080N which can be found very inexpensive on eBay nowadays. cheers, Chris Dac> Hey Fellows Dac> What is the largest size scsi hd I can format on the s760? Nothing to do with you in the Netherlands. US residents pay the equivalent to VAT when buying goods in their home State. So as Northstar are based in NJ, you'd pay an extra 7 or 8% as a NJ resident, and nothing as a CA or WI resident for example. However, you may have to pay Dutch customs fee when importing the CD. And when you do, the fee is calculated on the value of the whole package, including shipping. As for the CD itself, I cannot comment on the Roland version, but I have E-Mu Northstar CDs and they are very good, even taking into account that some of the banks are only 8Mb as they were developped originally for the EIII. Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format="flowed" Sender: owner-sgroup@lists.uunet.ca Precedence: bulk Hi! I got a used S-760 (OS 2.X, 32MB RAM, with mouse and monitor) a couple years ago and it has been working great until now. Then one day it wouldn't load any sounds from my hard drive: it would say "now working!!" and spin for a moment, load a sound or two, then freeze. The "now working!!" still appears but the little spinning arrows aren't there, and even left overnight it stays the same so it's not just being slow. I thought it might be because the SCSI hard drive was corrupted, but it didn't load from CD-ROM either. Eventually I got it working again (with a new drive) but then after a few weeks the same symptoms have started again. Here are the troubleshooting steps I've taken: 1. Changing SCSI cables 2. Changing SCSI hard drive 3. Removing SCSI hard drive and loading directly from CD-ROM (this worked the first time it failed, but not now), booting from floppy. Any ideas?? I'm out of troubleshooting steps. Could it be a bad RAM chip? ...if so why would it start after two years of trouble-free operation? Thanks for any suggestions of next steps to try -- I'm temporarily dead in the water without this thing. -Alison -- ----------------------------------- Alison Reid Treble Cove Music 40 Dartmouth St. Watertown, MA 02472 Tel: 617-633-0518 URL: http://www.treblecove.com - Sent by the sgroup mailing list on lists.uunet.ca For subscription information, send mail to majordomo@lists.uunet.ca and see http://www.generalconcepts.com/sgroup/ for more information.
