The picture quality is quite good although there is a bit of cross modulation interference on some of the darker colours (nothing too drastic though and still far better than the S760s chewing gum sized display). All you have to do is keeping the "Command" button pressed while booting. After the OS has booted it shows up "!! hacker mode enable !!" on the top of the lcd for a short time. Meanwhile I found out that you can save this state by using the "LD/SV system" function. The next time you boot the S-760 is still in hacker mode without the need to hold any key. Well pretty, but... A lot of Rolands came with the boards just because of the hard drives. Also, CDroms break down. I got involved because I had CD's and SCSI but no drive. That is when I learned how hard it was to get hooked up with a CDrom. Salvage yards didn't have the time to search for a worthless CDrom. Let alone ask them to take the drive apart to get the exact numbers on the drive itself. But I also had people try to buy my S550 just for the SCSI card even though they had the sampler. It's called Switchmaster?  Should I be able to find one under that name?

Subject: AW: sgroup Monitor cable switcher for Roland samplers?

Hi!

I use a "Switchmaster" 1rack unit that takes up to 4 or 5

video and mouse

inputs and switches both at the same time with one button. It

has both RCA

and digital video inputs, and an auxilliary input for a cable

TV signal. In

this way I'm able to switch quickly between my 3 samplers

using one video

monitor.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned it in this string. No idea

where you can

get one, but I picked it up with my second 760.

I have seen this switcher and someone offered my one (but too
expensive).
I also got photos of this unit but they were quite bad.
If anyone wants to see the photos please mail...

Ciao
Peter

Any progress there? Well, in an attempt to add an internal drive into an S-750 I put a zip drive into the bay where the floppy drive normally goes, but I had to leave the floppy drive connected (just the ribbon data cable only though) or it wouldn't boot up. The sampler needs to "see" the floppy in order to complete the boot up process. If it were a PC then I'd simply go into the CMOS settings and disable the floppy seek setting but I don't know how to access such settings on the S-750. Or, if I knew which specific pins on the data ribbon cable the sampler is checking to see if a floppy is attached I could just put jumpers over the pins to short them and then remove the floppy drive. Anyone have any other ideas? >Also I don't know how much additional current the S-760's power >supply can handle. I'd be interested in the answer to this one too. The power cable that was available for the floppy on the S-750 worked fine for the zip drive because it doesn't need to be running constantly. I did not see any other power cable inside the S-750, but you're talking about the S-760 so that may or may not relate.
